What happened to our cast of characters in the years following the experiment?
Prisoner #416, who broke down within 36 hours, got a clinical psychology Ph.D., did his internship in a California prison, and became a forensic psychologist in the San Francisco County Jail.
Craig Haney got a Ph.D. and an LL.D. from Stanford University, teaches Psychology and Law courses at UC--Santa Cruz, and is one of the nation's leading lawyers handling prisoner litigation.
Christina Maslach is a professor of Psychology at UC--Berkeley, was married to Phil Zimbardo one year after the Stanford Prison Experiment, and received the 1997 Case/Carnegie Foundation "Professor of the Year" Award for four-year colleges and universities.
"John Wayne" is now a mild-mannered real estate broker.
